The Art of Persuasion & Influence
In today’s session, we’re exploring how to speak so people don’t just hear you—but feel moved to act.
We look at two classic tools of persuasion:
Rhetorical questions (to spark curiosity), and
Repetition (to create rhythm, impact, and memorability).
Think of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I have a dream…” or the iconic “Maybe she’s born with it. Maybe it’s Maybelline.”
Repetition works because it sticks. It gives your message structure, emotion, and weight.
We also explore how to combine stories, facts, and emotions to influence not just minds, but hearts.
Mini Exercise:
Craft a 1-minute persuasive talk on something you care about.
Use:
A rhetorical question
A short story
One fact
One emotional image or phrase
A final repetition or call to action
Because great persuasion isn’t about pressure—it’s about resonance. At the end of the day, when we speak pubilcly, whether writing, speech giving, marketing our offer in business, we are wanting to find our soul tribe.
